Community Trust Bank will host a public book signing on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., featuring Marna Irby as she signs copies of her children’s book titled, Rainbow the Funky Chicken. The event will take place at Community Trust Bank’s Ruston Financial Center, 1511 North Trenton Street, Ruston, LA.
This is Irby’s first book. According to the synopsis, Rainbow the Funky Chicken is about a chicken born on a farm in Louisiana who learns what it is like to be different and to deal with relational issues. Although a children’s book, Rainbow deals with subject matter in a way that can teach all ages lessons on what it means to be different.
Irby has written a weekly column for the Ruston Daily Leader for 16 years. She has won two national short story contests and has had pieces published in several national magazines throughout her life. Irby has also been recognized in the theater community, winning the Ruston Community Theater’s annual RusTony award for best actress in a leading role. She is a retired Public School Music Teacher.
